:About Networking And Support:

:Computer networks: the basics:

A computer network is formed when computers are connected together or to peripherals such as printers, scanners, or modems.

Sooner or later most businesses need to invest in more than one computer. At this point it is more practical and cost effective to share resources like printers and to have access to common files.

As with all computer equipment it is important to assess your business requirements to see how the proposed system can fulfill your needs.

Finding the right partner to help you with this process is the first (and most important) step towards realizing your business goals. The staff of ComputerWorks has the skill and experience that will make your company's project move forward quickly and easily.

:Advantages of using networks:

As your business grows, you will appreciate the importance of good communication between employees. Computer networking is one of the key ways in which information can be shared to make the business more efficient and profitable.

:Financial benefits:

You can cut costs by sharing printers, scanners, external disks, tape drives
and Internet access.
A centralised database can improve productivity by allowing two or more staff to deal with different clients simultaneously.

:Practical benefits:

Staff can deal with more customers at the same time by simultaneously accessing product or customer databases.
Standard versions of manuals and directories can be made available to everyone.
Network administration can be centralised so fewer IT administrators are required.
Data can be backed-up from a single point on a scheduled basis, ensuring consistency.

The following scenario shows how a good network can help
a business to run more smoothly:

John's business doesn't have a network. His staff each have their own printer attached to their PC, and transfer data amongst themselves on floppy disks. Some people back up their data, some don't. Everybody has a copy of everything. The trouble is, no one is sure who has the most up-to-date version.
John decides to install a network. Documents are now stored on a server.
His staff all work on one copy of a document, so there is no argument about who has the latest copy. The entire server is backed up by his IT support person.
People log on to networked business applications when they arrive at work, and only log off when they go home.

There is one reliable printer, which everyone shares.

Networking means that time, money and mistakes are reduced. Customers are dealt with successfully and orders are processed more efficiently.

:INSTALLATION:

:Network Installation:

Because proper planning is the key to a successful network installation, we begin each project with a client interview to determine the requirements of the network.

Some of the questions that need to be answered at this stage are:

What are the key purposes of the network?
What software will the client use to perform critical business functions?
What are the hardware and operating system requirements of all software?
How many users and how many locations will be involved in the network?
How much growth is anticipated over the next 3 to 5 years?
Who will provide ongoing support and administration for the network?
Does the client have a budget for the network?
Does the client have installation deadlines for the network?

With the client's requirements in mind, our network engineers and sales specialists meet to discuss the design of the network.
This planning phase allows us to consider all possible design options and to develop an installation plan that takes into consideration all of the client's requirements as well as any existing infrastructure or equipment.
Once our installation plan is complete, a network engineer and sales specialist will meet with the client's designated representatives to discuss the plan and to explain the reasons for our recommendations in each area of the plan.

The installation phase begins once an agreement is reached on the scope and
design of the network.

During the installation phase the client will be updated regularly on the
progress of the project.
Any unforeseen technical difficulties will be explained to the client and a plan to overcome these problems will be decided on by both parties.
A final installation meeting will be scheduled when the installation phase nears completion. Each aspect of the completed project will be covered in this final installation meeting, giving the client an opportunity to discuss any installation issues with our technical staff.
A 30-day and 90-day follow up meeting will be scheduled at the
completion of the installation.

The Support Phase is the final phase of network implementation.
Some clients prefer to handle daily end-user technical support internally, while many clients choose to have our staff provide ongoing systems administration and user support. ComputerWorks offers a wide variety of support options and we will customize our support plan to fit each client's needs.

Not only are our developments based on technical excellence but they are also designed utilizing our business acumen and as such they are designed to help our clients maximize business opportunities, corporate branding opportunities whilst also possibly reducing costs, streamlining business processes and improving customer service.

We have identified the following specific needs universal to most businesses:

:Present Information Professionally:

With your competitor only ever a click away on the Internet engaging and entertaining a website visitor is becoming ever more important. By utilising professional highly qualified and experienced graphic designers who utilise the latest graphic design techniques and tools, we ensure our clients' websites leave a great first impression,
leading visitors to further explore your Website.

:Increase Lead Generation:

ComputerWorks is highly experienced in online lead generation techniques, demonstrated easily by stating that you yourself found our website and were impressed enough to get in contact with us, and although this is a simplified method of demonstrating lead generation our experience encompasses such things as email marketing, newsletters, reciprocal links and many, many other areas. Not forgetting of course that the actual design processes employed need to direct people to wanting and then being able to contact you.

:Save Time, Increase Productivity:

By having a ComputerWorks professionally designed Website you will find that the time taken to traditionally handle general enquiries, etc. will be reduced dramatically as people are directed towards your website to gain answers to common questions, to find out details about your company and its services and products. Not only will your sales staff have more time to follow up pre-qualified leads generated by the Website but your traditional promotional costs will also be reduced. As the need for brochures diminishes so you will need to send out fewer brochures saving both time and money.

ComputerWorks understands the threats and benefits associated with having a successful Internet presence, for example having a successful website will increase the number of business opportunities presented via the Internet. Existing customers, potential customers, etc., can be directed towards your website using conventional advertising methods leading to better corporate branding opportunities, allowing visitors to quickly and easily find the information they require. Such a website can and will lead to more business opportunities if marketed and promoted accordingly, whilst also potentially reducing more conventional promotional costs such as printing.

Another important aspect often overlooked in the development of a website is the actual support role, having a professional website brings with it. For example although the website may primarily be utilised by potential customers, existing customers will utilise it to communicate with support personal thus reducing the time taken by support personal answering telephone calls, etc.

Care must be taken during the actual design process to ensure that the finished product as delivered actually meets expectations, not only in delivery but also in performance terms. Care and attention must be paid especially as to how the various Search Engines will find and index each page within the Website, by doing this during the actual design phase ComputerWorks ensures our customers are positioned to take maximum advantage of visitors derived from such Search Engines as Google. Failure to carry out such fundamental tasks could for instance leave you with a Website that looks good but that doesn't attract these highly targeted visitors resulting in many less business opportunities.

Business Acumen is also another extremely important factor, as the ComputerWorks Management Team have numerous years accumulated business experience we know what works and what doesn't. This ability enables us to design websites that work, that present your business professionally as opposed to tackily and unprofessional. Because having a Website is a two-edged coin on the hand if designed and managed correctly it becomes an invaluable business tool whilst on the other hand if not designed or managed correctly it could cost you business, loose you customers and be a financial drain.

ComputerWorks prides itself on its project management skills, with both of our principles highly skilled in this area, backed up with software and methodology designed to ensure all deadlines are achieved and deliverables are delivered on time and to budget.
